Wisdom

Position & Message

Position carries responsibility. What we say can influence others' mindsets, emotions and actions. Words can heal or hinder people.

Seeking Meaning

It is never easy to identify one's purpose in a "meaningless" or evolving world. We chase after the wind and the wind may change direction or disappear within a short timeframe. In spite of this, we still strive to find meaning in our lives or work so that we can find joy in our every day. Do we just do a job unconsciously or think about the outcome/impact the users/recipients will benefit from our jobs? For example, do we just pour coffee or happiness into other people's lives?

self-control

Crimes such as corruption, robbery, murder and sexual assault can be prevented when one exercises self-control and has more empathy towards others. Share the awareness and lower the crime rate.

Compound Feelings

Our experience can create single or compound feelings that we find them contradicting and it is perfectly normal. Every relationship has its own pain and pleasure, and could enrich our lives. May you create and taste more sweetness of life.

Serivce to Greatness

One can seek ways to serve others in small or big avenues. Every work is an opportunity to serve or help others. I help to orchestrate programmes for individuals who serve people in need or sickness. Service should begin from home first.

Environment Endeavour

Our environment can help or hinder our endeavours. Choose or change your environment for the better.

pygmalion effect

Our performance may be affected by the beliefs and behaviours of our parents, teachers and leaders. Low expectations produce mediocrity, while high expectations create excellence. Be mindful of our expectations and exhibitions.

Harmonious Ground

In our pursuit of life gifts, we need to work on these three areas of our lives and ensure that they are aligned and complementing each other:

1) Heavenly grace
2) Human goals
3) Harmonious ground

Clear our internal and external clutter for a positive flow of energy in our lives.

Discipline produces results. Some people struggle to maintain discipline to achieve their goals. Nowadays, it is easy to be distracted and become a sloth. If you need ideas or a coach, you can contact me HERE.

Intelligence

At times, we may encounter smart people who are condescending and belittle others for their lack of knowledge or mistakes. It is easy to be judgemental but hard to journey with others. Let's apply intelligence with kindness for a common good.

forgiveness anger

Can you spot the difference? Amazingly, some Chinese characters provide us answers and insights for our lives. When we look at forgiveness and anger, it is just a small symbol difference. Once we learn to forgive, our anger reduces. If we continue to be enraged, we become enslaved by that emotion. Be slow to anger and quick to forgive.

suffering_attachment[1]

In this world, we struggle and sometimes suffer from the loss of loved ones, businesses, careers, wealth, etc. The more we delve deeper into the loss, the more we will grieve and depressed. We can be liberated when we learn to detach and let go. Nothing is permanent and life is temporal.

kidneycare

Singapore ranks 1st in the world for diabetes-induced kidney failure. Every 5 hours, one person is diagnosed with kidney failure. Practise these beneficial habits for good health and kidneys.

From my recent health screening, I read about this statement from a posture book. WHO asserted that physical inactivity is estimated to be the main cause for approx. 21–25% of breast and colon cancers, 27% of diabetes and approx. 30% of ischaemic heart disease burden. Find time to take part regularly in some kinds of activities (even house chores) to move your body.

One of my favourite principles is reciprocity. If you do someone a favour, he or she will likely to return it to you. I enjoy sharing and giving but do not think of something in return. I have a colleague who has difficulty working with supervisor and I provided a listening ear as well as a treat to uplift the person's spirit. We can be altruistic, beyond reciprocity.

We have been often taught to be prudent but we can actually spend more on areas that spark joy or create new experiences for us. Think about spending 10x more on those areas. How would it look like?

Better

Looking for an affirmation to kickstart your day or improve your health? Say this phrase to yourself a few times. Emile Coue, a psychologist & pharmacist, observed that positive suggestions could influence the recovery of patients.

Remembering

Our self-talk or self-suggestion can wound us or help us to win. Combat any signs of dementia with positive suggestions. Choose our words carefully. Spread positivity around.

Disconfirm

I had planned a company policy with consistency in mind. However, I was challenged by my staff to think about a scenario that will occur against the interest of our company. I recalled this quote and amended the policy. Leaders are not always right and should seek diverse views to reach a better decision.

The marketplace consists of infinite players and ever-changing rules. New players enter and old ones exit the game; some last for very long while others are shortlived. Let it be "game over" or "restart".
